Interesting. After applying the latest updates earlier today, the boot- time hang is gone. The graphical boot progress bar in the middle of the screen is much thinner (vertically). The encrypted partition password prompt text is still a bright white, however, I'm able to enter the password and boot normally (no hang).
I still have the same linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic kernel installed, so it must be some other package that broke/fixed it. My problem seems to be fixed, though I don't know which package did it. I'm not sure which status is most appropriate -- "invalid" seems like a safe answer to me, as no further attention is (should be?) required. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- 2.6.28-11 hangs early during boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345684 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
