@Till: I have set the root password on this box. It is my server and I need true root access for some things. Although I have tried my account which also has sudo and lpadmin rights. It could be an openldap problem, but not directly with openldap. It seems like the web system gets stuck authenticating against LDAP, fails and gives up instead of trying unix authentication or it could be PAM failing. I will try to get LDAP and PAM authentication logs ASAP. @Paul: Yes, all systems are fully upgraded to the latest versions and I am still having authentication issues.
