Can you please post your /etc/apt/sources.list file here?
What version of Ubuntu do you have?
What happens when you try to install other packages?
What happens when you run the following commands:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
Did you install packages that were not in the official Ubuntu repos?
