Alexander, what you are saying would completely defeat the purpose of DPI in the first place, which is to ensure that "10pt" appears exactly the same regardless of what screen you are viewing it on. The gconf defaults should absolutely not have a px suffix, as this would cause incredibly small, unreadable fonts on high-resolution displays like mine (150 dpi).
