The problem appears to be that /usr/share/pyshared-data/gedit-plugins specifies python-version = 2.5, and python2.5 is not installed. When I install python2.5, the problem goes away. However, pycentral should handle this situation and not crash.
Maybe gedit-plugins also needs to be updated to specify python2.6? Or just not specify a version, thereby getting the default? It has no direct package dependency on a python version, so it will presumably pick up the python version of whatever python add-on packages it depends on.
