It looks like the converted vs native ext4 filesystem info I gave
earlier was a RED HERRING! I just got another system freeze deleting
files off my EXT4 partition that I had reformatted (using mkfs.ext4)
yesterday. I have just dropped down to a root shell on the recovery mode
to see if I can figure out which specific file (size?, type?) causes
problems.
