Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wayv

I have been using wayv since Breezy and all through dapper until Dapper was
released as final.
More importantly, I also have several clients who need "wayv" because fo their
handicap.
However, wayv has not worked on Ubuntu since dapper was finalized and has
continued not to work through edgy and apparently feisty at this point.
There is little info I can offer as far as errors in the terminal since it
shows none!
There is a catch to this however.
The catch is that if you create a root account on ubuntu, and log into that
account, wayv works flawlessy, but will NOT run in the user account even if
started as root.
There is most definitely something strange about the user account,
specifically and only in ubuntu, for this not to work.
I have had others try wayv on their edgy and feistly installations with the
same results but one, who has tweaked and changed the default install of edgy.
It works on his system but he doesn't remember exactly what he did to edgy that
would have an impact on the user account that would allow wayv to function
normally!
Wayv is part of the default install of Debian, according to the developer,
and he also informs that it works fine on other distributions, ie RedHat, Suse,
etc.
At this point, it appears that the development team, at some point with the
Dapper Final, have done something to the user account in Ubuntu that prevents
this needed application to funtion properly!
Again, in a root account, wayv runs flawlessly...but in user account it will
not.
Also there is no problem with permissions or ownership of wayv. i have given
full ownership to the user and still nothing. All permissions to user, and
still nothing.

** Affects: wayv (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
