The computer was on battery, I was moving from one place to another so I suspended my session, when I got to the next place I opened up my laptop and gave it about 2 minutes to resume, being that i'm using EXT4 I figured that was more than enough time considering my laptop boots in under 30 seconds. The suspend never worked before, I was hoping that it would be fixed in this version. I haven't tried logging in from VT1, I'll reply with another response as soon as I can.
