First post here, apologies if I'm not providing all of the necessary
info. Please let me know what you need and I'll do my best to provide
it.

I've been using Ubuntu on my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M7400) since
6.06 and I've never had this problem until Intrepid.

Using dual-boot WinXP/Ubuntu. Have forever been jumping between both
OSs, in various locations. Problem occurs wherever I am and I'm sure it
has absolutely nothing to do with the router being connected to.

I have to take the same action as those above: disconnect from the power
for a few moments before rebooting to ensure that eth0 is available in
WinXP. Wireless connectivity is unaffected. My battery died some time
ago so I don't know whether this power disconnection would help if a
battery was present.
