Just adding a note that I was not referencing a kernel patch at all ;-) according to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=473219#c18 an updated kernel is not enough to resolve the bug, and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=332186 is still needed.
