Please compile with syntax highlighting, e.g., CABALOPTS="--user -fhighlighting" make && PREFIX=~ make install-exec you might as well compile citeproc as well http://johnmacfarlane.net/pandoc/INSTALL.html#TOC-optional-citeproc-support if you need help building, just ping me.
