Public bug reported: Hi, I have a Dell laptop Studio 1735 with Ubuntu 8.04 with latest updates.
uname -a Linux anton-dell 2.6.24-23-generic #1 SMP Mon Jan 26 00:13:11 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.04.2 Release: 8.04 apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.3+10ubuntu10.2 Candidate: 1:7.3+10ubuntu10.2 Version table: *** 1:7.3+10ubuntu10.2 0 500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:7.3+10ubuntu10 0 500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages I've found a very strange behaviour of my system: GUI sometimes freezes. Test case is: 1. Plug AC adapter. Screen brightness is increased. (BTW how to make brightness is not changed?) 2. Change brightness with keyboard (e.g. increase or decrease) 3. Try to press on any Ubuntu menu (e.g. System, Applications). This menu is only highlighted but is not opened (pulled?). I cannot open menu for system shutdown either. 4. Restart X by pressing Ctrl+Alt+BkSpace. 5. System is working fine. 6. Try again (or simply change brightness). System will freezes again. Sometimes I cannot reproduce this bug (after 2 or 3 times of doing this test) but it is on my system. Next message I'll attach some logs may be someone find something in them. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome menus freeze after the AC adapter is plugged and brightness is changed with keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339145 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
