Thanks for your reply! This is exactly what /etc/nsswitch.conf contains! LDAP authentication works on this ldap server with Gentoo Linux and Fedora 10 without trouble. To be precise, the affected system is Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) Tell me whatever you need, I will do my best to provide you with any needed information!
