I have this problem too, with jaunty on 32-bit x86. Pidgin package version: 1:2.5.4-2ubuntu2 Not always (but quite often) if I click on the close button of the new mail window (which is there because I've clicked on the "new mails" at the top of the buddy list before), pidgin often crashes. I'm using the facebook chat plugin as well (package version: 1.47-1), I don't know it's related or not though, maybe I see the problem because it's a much common case to have new mail notifications with facebook than with "regular mail".
