I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 alpha 5 e...@eid-laptop:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-session gnome-session: Installed: 2.25.92-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 2.25.92-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 2.25.92-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Compiz should start if it was enabled in the previous session whatever it has active or disabled entry in startup applications If there is an entry for compiz in gnome-session-properties this will block compiz from running on startup. To repeat this bug: 1- Create an entry for compiz in gnome-session-properties 2- In command box put compiz --replace 3- Disable this entry 4-logout and then login 5-Compiz won't start I attached the xsession errors file.
