a strange thing I did was that I got bored with gnome and completely removed it using this help file:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/purekde I installed kde-core and wasn't happy with that due to its limited features, so I installed kubuntu-desktop on top of the kde-core installation...and guess what happend? .....the hotkeys started to work for volume and I am quite pleased with that. so I can control the volume with the fn+f8/f9 keys now and I love kubuntu-desktop, so neat and beautiful, I have also felt it to be faster than gnome (see image attached) ** Attachment added: "kubuntu-desktop image" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5511725/desktop.png -- RealTek ALC260 Sound Card on Dapper + Internal Microphone https://launchpad.net/bugs/62891 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
