Indeed, I am equally unable to reproduce this using #### (U+0023) as a
password.  I would suggest running ubiquity in debug mode for future
installation attempts (`ubiquity -d` in a terminal window), and if it
crashes attach /var/log/installer/debug, /var/log/syslog, and
/var/log/partman to this or a new bug report.

If the install completes successfully, do delete
/var/log/installer/debug as it contains your password.  It is only
readable by root, though.
