I encounter this bug in 8.04.2, too. I use Firefox 3.06, mplayer 1.0rc2-4.2.4, mozilla-mplayer 3.50-1
To cause this problem 1. open any internet radio station using Firefox. 2. Stop playing the internet radio, either close tab or change pages, but DO NOT CLOSE FIREFOX. 3. open Rhythmbox (other players as well), playing a song. There will be no sound from it. And for vice versa, 1. open any audio players, playing song. 2.
