Hi Bryce, unfortunately I just realised that those recent updates caused my xorg.conf file to go back to vesa, hence why I haven't been getting those errors anymore.
I just switched back to ati and when I try to boot into ubuntu with 'ati' in my xorg.conf file, it first comes up with "Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode" then it comes up with the error popup "The greeter application appears to be crashing.
