Just have a look at my  menu.lst file attached and look for the
"i8042.reset", that must be added in the options sequence for each
kernel you want to use (2.26.7.11-generic is working for me right now; I
don't know if it would work for previous kernels).

For commodity, the option should also be inserted in the "defoptions="
line, so it should be added automatically for any kernel that will be
installed after future upgrades.
