i reinstalled ubuntu intrepid 32bit from zero and the issue is gone... Another bug of similar behavior is that when having openoffice word opened and writing something, if i unplugg the wireless USB mouse, openoffice help center starts like 80 times... i.e. opens 80 help windows one after the other and the CPU blows away and i have to killall openoffice to close all those windows...
