This seems to be http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18668 Both this LP bug and the Redhat bug are referenced in that bug. Fix was pushed as 9fe9b6e4ef669b192ee349e3290db5d2aeea273c and nominated for 1.6 Steven Harms reports the fix works on Intrepid.
