Ok, btw I need a few days to download this file and to test due to my
slow internet connection (128k).

** Description changed:

  Hi there,
I'm running ubuntu on my PC which has an AMD/ATI Radeon HD4650 as the video
card but I cannot change the resolution of my screen with the standard driver.
When the system boots for the first time, it automatically sets the
resolution to 1280x1024 but I'm used to 1024x768, then when I set this config
the display colors became wrong, like 8 colors or less.
The only way I can get the system to work on 16/24bit color depth again is
changing the resolution back to 1280x1024 and restarting the X server.
Also I have tried the `fglrx` driver which seems to work fine.
- I'm running out of time so I didn't touched the xorg.conf file to check if
there's a way to get the 1024x1024 resolution on the default driver, maybe with
another vertical/horizontal refresh rates it should work.

  Thanks.
(I hope you can understand my bad english)
