Interesting. There doesn't seem to be a way to enable the digital output from the new sound preferences panel, just the old menus. Can the behavior of this be changed so that the output is active by default?
Or perhaps include some kind of mixer in the new panel where different inputs/outputs can be enabled/disabled by the user? What package should this actually be under?
