I've just encountered this this morning after getting update to 4.2 indication on my Intrepid install (with back-ports enabled). Mine seemed to be an issue with Kate requiring libplasma3 but libplasma2 was blocking it. I've attached a dump of errors I got but I can attach anything els ein case it's of use (or open a new bug if you want it).
I got around it by manually force installing libplasma3, the tried a forced overwrite of kdebase-workspace-libs4+5_4%3a4.2.0-0ubuntu1~intrepid2_i386.deb Which seemed to be the next problem after the Kate issue, then I just did a force on full-upgrade (patience ran out !) and it worked.
