(Might be worth noting that for some reason the two partitions in question show up in netbook-launcher and in Nautilus with USB drive icons. Clearly they're not. (Internal SATA drive.) So presumably something in Linux at some lower level you're probably not responsible for is misrepresenting them. :-(
