Problem solved for me : today, Adept manager proposed several updates that patched my system (Kubuntu 8.10 64 bits with backports enabled) to KDE 4.2.0. Now, the version installed of phonon-backend-xine is 4:4.3.0-0ubuntu1~intrepid1.
