Hi Duane, I'm not sure what the status "invalid" means. My cursor jumps around without me touching the pad. I can only get it to stop by plugging in a USB mouse. I have not tried your solution, however.
As it turns out, I will probably remove Ubuntu from my machine because I'm short on disk space and I'm not using it and this problem does not seem to get addressed in the 2 years I've had the machine. I also don't really have patience in dealing with editing config files. So, I appreciate your help and hopefully, someday, I will return to Ubuntu. I really do feel like it's a potentially viable alternative to Windows which I don't like using but have to because of some of the applications I need to run Thanks again.
