Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-180-kernel-source
Recently nvidia-180 and what I presume was a set of updated xorg and/or window managers or the kernel security fix I heard about in passing seems to have caused the 180 driver to work rather poorly (basically garbage). I believe that Ubuntu as a whole should approach Nvidia so that release candidate drivers are available as an option in Ubuntu's package archives for testing versions of Ubuntu. The main reason I say this is that flash crashes, there is noticeable window-lag, and XV does not work on my 8400M graphics chipset under the NV driver. It's like I happen to have a fast computer from 7-8 years ago that's fully loaded with ram; instead of a laptop only a little over a year old. A much more valid point however, how will we possibly know what Xorg 1.6 breaks or reveals as flaws unless the major players make drivers of near final quality available? ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nvidia drivers for 9.04 - Xorg 1.5.99.902 (1.6.0 RC 2) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331565 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
