Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: computer-janitor

I request a jaunty feature freeze exception for computer-janitor version
1.12-0buntu1. the current version in jaunty is 1.11-0ubuntu1. This is a
new upstream version of a program written specifically for Ubuntu.

Part of the code is now included in the update-manager package (binary
package update-manager-core). The existing computer-janitor package
can't work with the new update-manager-core package installed. The
benefit of this is that the two programs now share the code to do
certain kinds of tasks.

In addition to the dpkg_dotfiles plugin mentioned in NEWS below, there
are some other new plugins, which got left out of NEWS; they are not
installed nor included in the binary package however.

The package builds under a clean pbuilder environment. It installs and
upgrades cleanly. It has no reverse dependencies. It has been tested by
using it on a couple of jaunty (virtual) machines.

Upstream NEWS file snippet:

Version 1.12, released 2009-02-19

    * New plugin: remove files left on the filesystem by the dpkg
      conffile handling (*.dpkg-old and *.dpkg-new).

    * Code base has been split so that the core parts (plugin management,
some of the plugins) now reside in the update-manager source tree.
This was done so that update-manager can use the computer-janitor
plugins, since there was no point in both programs having code to do
      the same thing.

    * When handling exceptions within the computer-janitor code, the
actual exception is now logged (at DEBUG level), to aid in
      debugging the cause.

    * Plugins can now declare that they should only be used under specific
conditions, rather than always. This is useful for plugins that are
      used by update-manager.
