Thank you for reporting this. From your description it sounds like you
have a question regarding dpkg, rather than a bug with the package
itself. Therefore I'm converting your bug report into a question for
now.
In the meantime, could you let us know exactly what you are trying to do
and what output you get (the full error message including 'dpkg
--configure -a' would be useful for us to diagnose where the problem is.
