Note: i do not observe this behavior on debian lenny. (also running gnome). However, i have network manager off. Perhaps it is network manager and not dbus that is causing pidgin to crash (note i am not running network-manager on debian). I will test later on ubuntu 8.10 (network manager disabled and or not compiling pidgin with network manager support ).
