I am running kubuntu 9.04 jaunty alpha 4. I simply installed the desktop tool for compiz selected the upper button which installed the compiz packages. then selected custom and apply and poof all the window borders disapeered. to correct the issue I found compiz icon which runs in the task bar and lets me select a windows manager and things seem to be working again.
