Heya Jamie, Actually, *usually* when you see X consuming a lot of CPU, it's not actually X... X is a server, so is simply responding to commands driven by some client program. So almost always the bug is something the client is doing wrong, and forcing the X server to do a bunch of extra work.
We get Xorg high cpu reports a lot, so I wrote up a guide detailing how to analyze these problems more closely: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/HighCPU Since I *think* it's not X in this case, I've removed the package. If in looking at it closer you determine it actually is X, please also update the description and title to more specifically indicate the problem. ** Changed in: ubuntu Sourcepackagename: xorg => None -- High CPU usage when showing text in gnome-terminal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
