I believe that it is a UI problem then, because I was simply following a similar method that I would use with Windows Calc. Maybe that is not the greatest excuse or comparison, but that's what led me to file this report.
If the keys are shortcut keys, then I expect them to alter the input in a way that yields the correct result.
