Thanx Now that I am sober I took a shoot at it again double checking everything and it turns out to be a mistake on my side after all.
> //The device /dev/sda3 is a partition that is roughly 100Gb so the sectors should be sufficient, Turns out to be false. sda3 is not at all free. I forgot that I out of courtesy for the owner of the machine (my employer) kept a small partition for windows, should someone which to restore the machine. Thus I miscalculated the partitionlayout out of habit. Sda3 is the primary for my logical discs. It should have been sda4 and now everything works. So, pardon my mistakes, thanks for your engagement, and... well, at least I can no confirm that this works out of the box in 2.6.27.11! //When you finally get to report a bug...
