It just crashed on me. Closing and opening the lid does work if you have it set to go blank when closed (Power Manager). I have posted a comment on nvnews http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1923143&postcount=18. I'm now going to repotr this to nVidia. To date, only the fix suggested by Markus has any lasting effect.
