The drm error should not be fatal. The error in :0.log.1 was only temporary I 
suppose? There should be no /tmp/.X0-lock
 if X is stopped properly. You can run "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop" on a virtual 
console to stop X, and start it the same way. You can also boot with "text" as 
a kernel option and X will not be started, in which case you can start it 
manually with "startx".
