I did force the older version of libgs8 (Do not know how to do it but
with synaptic package manager) and the dependency problem disappeared.
It sounds strange for me that the 'newer' version had got a lower number
than the 'older' one, but don't know about it, maybe the problem was
somehow there.  I did not take down the version numbers, and after
forcing the version, it does not appear as upgradable, neither can I see
which the previous version was or force it again.  The one I got now is
libgs8 8.61.dfsg.1-1ubuntu3, and everything is working fine as it looks
like.

  I guess the problem is solved, sorry for bothering here with such a
mess-I should have tried that first.
