Ok... totem-gstreamer can play movies, but there is no sound. Also, it does work with a different account, so I guess there is a configuration problem somewhere in my home directory. Even before reporting, I had tried removing all references to rhythmbox (.gnome2/rhythmbox, .gconf/apps/rhythmbox), but that didn't help. Although, since totem- gstreamer has no sound either, I suspect there is some other configuration that is messing things up. Any ideas what it could be?
