I can't reproduce this in Jaunty, although I'm not sure it's valid for
me since I am just using a default US locale. I just see ??? where
those characters should be.
I see the same behavior in xterm and gnome-terminal fwiw.
Can you test against Jaunty and see if the problem still exists? If so,
can you also provide some additional steps for reproducing it starting
from a US locale?
