I enabled the backports and proposed updates in my intrepid 32bit and after upgrading to kernel 2.6.27-11-generic, the system freezes and caps lock led blinks. this issue happened to me before with another kernel, but it went away in kernel 2.6.27-9-generic... now it's back on the newest
