@Adam -- we have discussed this on the kernel-team mailing list, and with ext4 being such a very new kernel feature and of unproven reliability we feel it is unwise to be adding feature patches which are not yet merged to mainline. We are very likely to need to backport ext4 fixes from 2.6.29 and anything non-standard we have may well conflict adding to our maintenance and risk during this early stage in ext4's lifecycle.
Assuming that this functionality is making its way to mainline, we should end up picking it up automatically, most likely in the next cycle. The kernel there is most likely to be 2.6.29 or 2.6.30 based depending on mainlines release timing. Should they be in mainline and test ok in the next cycle we could consider then backporting it to Jaunty. For now closing this Won't Fix for Jaunty. -- Add support for Ext4 online defrag https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
