Unfortunately your Xorg.0.log doesn't indicate why the restart is
occurring.  What we need is either an error message or a backtrace.
Guess we need to look harder.  Can you please reproduce the issue and
then attach all of the following?

 /var/log/Xorg.0.log
 /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
 /var/log/gdm/:0.log
 /var/log/gdm/:0.log.1
 /var/log/gdm/:0.log.2

Thanks.  We may also need to get a full backtrace, but let's start with
those files.
