Hi, Pedro: No, I've got no interest in trying 8.10 or 9.04. 8.10 thoroughly trashed my system when I upgraded from 8.04, so badly that I could no longer even boot. I had to do a complete reinstall. That was enough to convince me that upgrading was a very bad idea.
As for the firefox problem, I think it was a result of my adding some gtk library. I couldn't say whether this bug is still out there waiting to bite. After the reinstall, I was careful to avoid anything that said 'gtk' in it, so as to avoid the terrible text formatting issue. If I had a spare computer, I might consider trying to isolate the bug, but since I don't, I'm going to play it safe and not try to reproduce this bug. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Thanks for getting back to me, anyway. -Baruch On Thu, 2009-01-22 at 17:25 +0000, Pedro Villavicencio wrote: > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make > Ubuntu better.
