Hi, I should probably have looked at the man page before:
% rename Usage: rename [-v] [-n] [-f] perlexpr [filenames] The first argument must be a Perl regular expression. `rename' will then rename the supplied filenames according to this expression. You did not supply a regular expression, so `rename' did not know what to do. I'll mark the report as invalid because of this.
