Actually it just happened when I set xclock to launch on start-up.
Previously xclock appeared (near top of screen but nearer to the center)
with no problems but then when it appeared in the top left corner, it's
title bar was obscured and again could not move it.

The problem seems to be where (and possibly in what order) gnome chooses
to launch the applications. If the ui appears in the top left corner,
then it's title bar can get obscured, although firefox launches ok.

So a possible fix could be a matter of setting where the ui should
appear e.g. in a script. I would appreciate it anyone has any info how
why this is and possible fixes. Thanks.
