I think I'm encountering related problems with the e1000e. When running via wlan or hsdpa my laptop (Lenovo T61p) runs perfect all day, but when connected via ethernet it dies a few times a day. Different from the report though, also without much or any network traffic. In my case, it doesn't freeze, but just "poeff" dies; no shutdown, nothing. Looking at it, I had the idea (can't prove by any log or whatsoever) it had to do with the power status. When the battery gets fully loaded, etc. etc.
