Am I understanding your problem description correctly that in Hardy you
were not using compiz, but in Intrepid it does use compiz by default, so
you are seeing the issue? If you turn off compiz, does the issue go
away?
Also, please test if setting AccelMethod to EXA instead of XAA helps.
We've heard that it solves a number of bugs like this, and for Jaunty
have switched to using EXA by default.
