Same here on Ubuntu 8.10 with snort from Ubuntu mirrors: Version: 2.7.0-19ubuntu1 i see in logs: Jan 10 23:05:36 WOPR kernel: [10159.033323] snort[15189]: segfault at 8 ip 0809a875 sp bfe3c788 error 4 in snort[8048000+8e000]
I supposed that it was my snort configs or the rules used, i tried to lauch snort not in Alert mode: only in a term with: $ sudo snort -dve -i eth0 I didn't see after a while the problem occurring while using this mode. I supposed that it's in the alert mode (and so using rules) that the problem occur. I use rules from Emerging Threats and Ubuntu common rules installed by the base packages.
